UpdateStar is an update manager like Software Informer, but it has some disadvantages:
- smaller database
- inflated user interface
- does not recognize installed applications correctly (for example the version number of Skype and other default applications are wrong, at 22 of 80 applications)
- the new version costs money
In my eyes UpdateStar is a bad application, Software Informer is much better!
Be careful with this software! I wouldn't consider myself a pro, but I am a reasonably proficient computer user. I install and evaluate software all the time to see if I like it. Usually I do this with no problems. This software (with the help of me, of course) completely messed up my computer. I had to do a system restore to get it back to working order. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, especially inexperienced users, because the software provides no warnings and little information about how the changes you make with it will affect your computer.
